Call for papers: Conferenza EC2U a Pavia su "Dealing with Biases in Language and Culture"
(English below) L’Università di Pavia, nell'ambito del Virtual Institute of Quality Education (VIQE) dell'Alleanza EC2U, invita ricercatrici e ricercatori a presentare candidature per la conferenza "Dealing with Biases in Language and Culture: Interdisciplinary Perspectives".
L’evento si terrà in presenza a Pavia presso l’Aula Bottigella (Palazzo San Tommaso) dal 1° al 3 settembre 2026. La conferenza offre l'opportunità di approfondire la presenza pervasiva di bias e disinformazione nei testi e nelle pratiche educative e professionali.
I temi trattati includeranno:
- Analisi di bias culturali, stereotipi e pregiudizi.
- Marker linguistici (sintattici e pragmatici) del linguaggio influenzato da bias.
- Bias cognitivi e il ruolo dei pregiudizi nell'educazione.
- Bias nell'Intelligenza Artificiale e nel Natural Language Processing.
- Etica e correttezza riguardanti diverse tipologie di bias.
Le proposte dovranno incoraggiare un approccio interdisciplinare che combini prospettive dalla linguistica, psicologia, scienze sociali, diritto e studi culturali.
Le proposte per le presentazioni orali (comprese tra 3.000 e 4.000 caratteri, bibliografia esclusa) devono essere inviate entro il 20 aprile a ec2u@unipv.it, indicando nell'oggetto dell'email: "Bias 2026 Contribution Proposal".

Call for papers: EC2U Conference in Pavia on "Dealing with Biases in Language and Culture"
The University of Pavia, within the framework of the EC2U Virtual Institute of Quality Education (VIQE), invites researchers to submit applications for the conference "Dealing with Biases in Language and Culture: Interdisciplinary Perspectives".
The event will take place in person in Pavia at Aula Bottigella (Palazzo San Tommaso) from 1 to 3 September 2026. This conference provides a valuable opportunity to examine the pervasive presence of biases and misinformation in texts and their consequences in educational and professional contexts.
Relevant topics include:
- Analysis of cultural biases, stereotypes, and prejudices.
- Linguistic markers (syntactic, pragmatic, etc.) of biased language.
- Cognitive bias and the role of biases in education and training.
- Biases in AI and Natural Language Processing tasks.
- Ethics and fairness concerning different types of biases.
Submissions should foster an interdisciplinary approach, combining perspectives from linguistics, psychology, social sciences, law, and cultural studies.
Proposals for oral presentations (between 3,000 and 4,000 characters, excluding references) must be submitted by April 20th to ec2u@unipv.it, with the subject line "Bias 2026 Contribution Proposal" in the email subject.
