Salute orale e innovazione: Andrea Butera vince il World Dental Hygienist Award nella categoria "Ricerca"
(English below) Grande riconoscimento internazionale per l’Università di Pavia e per il Corso di Laurea in Igiene Dentale: il prof. Andrea Butera è stato premiato nella categoria “Research” ai World Dental Hygienist Awards 2026, uno dei più prestigiosi riconoscimenti mondiali dedicati agli igienisti dentali.
Andrea Butera è direttore delle attività didattiche del Corso di Laurea in Igiene Dentale dell’Università di Pavia ed è assegnista di ricerca presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Clinico-Chirurgiche, Diagnostiche e Pediatriche dell’Ateneo pavese.
Negli ultimi anni la sua attività scientifica si è concentrata sullo studio di approcci minimamente invasivi e sull’utilizzo di sostanze naturali per il mantenimento dell’equilibrio del microbiota orale e per la gestione dei tessuti duri e molli, sia nei pazienti sani sia nei pazienti affetti da patologie sistemiche.
Il World Dental Hygienist Awards è stato istituito dalla Sunstar Foundation in collaborazione con l'International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH) e con il supporto del brand GUM. L’iniziativa nasce con l’obiettivo di valorizzare l’eccellenza professionale, la ricerca scientifica, la leadership e il contributo degli igienisti dentali alla salute orale a livello internazionale.
L’edizione 2026 dei premi ha visto la selezione di vincitori provenienti da tutto il mondo in sei differenti categorie: Public Health, Full Time Clinician, New RDH, Research, Academia ed Entrepreneur. Andrea Butera è risultato vincitore nella categoria “Research”, dedicata ai professionisti che si distinguono per il contributo scientifico e innovativo nel campo dell’igiene dentale.
La cerimonia ufficiale di consegna si terrà il 10 luglio 2026 durante l’International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH), in programma a Milano.

Oral Health and Innovation: Andrea Butera wins the World Dental Hygienist Award in the Research category
A major international recognition for the University of Pavia and its Degree Course in Dental Hygiene: Professor Andrea Butera has been awarded in the “Research” category at the World Dental Hygienist Awards 2026, one of the most prestigious global recognitions dedicated to dental hygienists.
Andrea Butera is Director of Educational Activities of the Degree Course in Dental Hygiene at the University of Pavia and Research Fellow at the Department of Clinical, Surgical, Diagnostic and Pediatric Sciences of the University of Pavia.
In recent years, his scientific activity has focused on minimally invasive approaches and on the use of natural substances to maintain the balance of the oral microbiota and to manage hard and soft tissues, both in healthy patients and in patients affected by systemic diseases.
The World Dental Hygienist Awards were established by the Sunstar Foundation in collaboration with the International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH), with the support of the GUM brand. The initiative was created to recognize professional excellence, scientific research, leadership, and the contribution of dental hygienists to oral health worldwide.
The 2026 edition of the awards included winners from all over the world across six different categories: Public Health, Full Time Clinician, New RDH, Research, Academia, and Entrepreneur. Andrea Butera was selected as winner in the “Research” category, dedicated to professionals who stand out for their scientific and innovative contribution to the field of dental hygiene.
