L’Università di Pavia partecipa all’Erasmus Generation Meeting ad Ancona
(English below) Dal 3 al 6 aprile 2025 l’Università di Pavia ha partecipato alla quarta edizione dell’Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) ad Ancona, la più grande conferenza europea guidata da studenti.
L’evento, che quest’anno ha avuto come tema “Empowering Youth as the Changemakers of Society”, mira a dare voce alla Generazione Erasmus, affinché possa influenzare i principali attori della mobilità internazionale e contribuire al miglioramento dei programmi di scambio nell’istruzione superiore.
Per l’Università di Pavia hanno partecipato Stefania Mellera, Chantal Riccardi e Marco Oliva e per STEP ESN Pavia Khaled Alorabi e Gianluca Cucurachi.
L’evento ha visto una partecipazione attiva dell’Università di Pavia attraverso la presentazione di diverse sessioni.
Stefania Mellera - COR, in rappresentanza dell’Employability WG del Coimbra Group (CG) - è intervenuta come relatrice della sessione Knowledge Hub “How to Get the Best Out of the Transversal Skills Acquired During International Experiences: Good Practices in Coimbra Group Universities”. La sessione ha proposto un confronto su come sfruttare al meglio le esperienze internazionali, come la mobilità all’estero o il coinvolgimento in attività ESN, per lo sviluppo di competenze trasversali utili all’inserimento nel mercato del lavoro. Buone pratiche condotte da alcune università CG, presentate insieme alla collega Daniela Katja Sauge (Università di Ginevra e Academic Exchange and Mobility WG CG), intendono dare il dovuto valore e riconoscimento a queste esperienze e fornire la base per una discussione congiunta e co-creativa per nuove prassi.
Chantal Riccardi - U.O.C Mobilità Internazionale, in qualità di Chair dell’Academic Exchange and Mobility WG del Coimbra Group (CG), ha partecipato come speaker alle sessioni:
- “It’s a Two-Way Street – Diving into Student-Related Data from the EAIE Barometer”: la sessione ha visto un’interessante riflessione con gli altri speaker, Jody Hoekstra-Selten (European Association for International Education - EAIE) e Simone Lepore (Erasmus Student Network ESN International), in merito a diverse tematiche legate alla mobilità degli studenti e all'internazionalizzazione, attraverso lo scambio di idee con gli studenti e la presentazione della prospettiva dell’Università di Pavia.
- “Green Mobility: From Concept to Championing”: discussione in merito al tema della mobilità degli studenti e della sostenibilità. Insieme a Neli Kalinova-Schmieder di ESN International, Thijn van Eldijk di Eurail e Salome Dermati di EUF, Chantal Riccardi ha presentato l’attuale lavoro relativo alla mobilità internazionale sostenibile all'interno del gruppo di lavoro AEM.
Marco Oliva - U.O.C Mobilità Internazionale, in qualità di coordinatore locale del progetto Erasmus+ KA2 EUniverse, ha partecipato come speaker alle sessioni:
- “International Exchange: a Human Rights and Value-based approach”: discussione sui principali valori dell'UE e globali nel contesto della mobilità internazionale, affrontando i temi della dignità umana e dei diritti umani come strumenti per favorire la comprensione interculturale e l'integrazione degli studenti internazionali.
- “Empowering student voices: How to listen to students to make welcome weeks more impactful!”: la sessione è stato un incubatore di idee volto a esplorare modalità innovative per migliorare l’accoglienza degli studenti internazionali. In particolare, si è riflettuto su come coinvolgere attivamente gli studenti stessi nella progettazione delle attività, promuovendo spazi di interazione e co-creazione in cui possano sentirsi protagonisti del proprio percorso di integrazione.
È stata inoltre presentata una sessione congiunta da Marco Oliva e dai rappresentanti di STEP ESN Pavia Khaled Alorabi e Gianluca Cucurachi dal titolo “Erasmus Alumni – Bridging Generations, Celebrating Connections”. Il Programma Erasmus ha trasformato il percorso formativo di milioni di studenti e questa sessione è stata dedicata proprio al ruolo degli ex studenti Erasmus nel valorizzare e diffondere i principi del Programma, sia nella vita professionale che personale. Un’occasione per riflettere su come l’esperienza Erasmus continui a produrre effetti positivi anche a distanza di anni.
Infine Khaled Alorabi è stato invitato come rappresentante degli studenti per l’alleanza EC2U in quanto presidente di STEP ESN Pavia, partner associato dell’alleanza. Nella sessione “Building bridges: student participation in co-creating European University Alliances” ha avuto modo di riportare il feedback degli studenti che stanno frequentando i master del progetto, portando alla luce dinamiche e criticità, talvolta, in modo da capire come i primi studenti di questo campus paneuropeo stiano vivendo la loro esperienza, sia a livello accademico che personale.
From 3 to 6 April, the University of Pavia took part in the fourth edition of the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) in Ancona, Europe's largest student-led conference.
The event, which this year had as its theme ‘Empowering Youth as the Changemakers of Society’, aims to give a voice to the Erasmus Generation so that it can influence the key players in international mobility and contribute to the improvement of exchange programmes in higher education.
Stefania Mellera, Chantal Riccardi and Marco Oliva participated for UniPv and Khaled Alorabi and Gianluca Cucurachi for STEP ESN Pavia. The event saw the active participation of the University of Pavia through the presentation of several sessions.
Stefania Mellera - COR, representing the Employability WG of the Coimbra Group (CG) - as speaker of the Knowledge Hub session ‘How to Get the Best Out of the Transversal Skills Acquired During International Experiences: Good Practices in Coimbra Group Universities’. The session proposes a discussion on how to get the best out of international experiences, such as mobility abroad or involvement in ESN activities, for the development of transversal skills useful for entering the labour market. Good practices from a number of CG universities, presented together with the colleague Daniela Katja Sauge (University of Geneva and Academic Exchange and Mobility WG CG), are intended to give due value and recognition to these experiences and provide the basis for a joint and co-creative discussion for new practices.
Chantal Riccardi - International Mobility unit, as Chair of the Academic Exchange and Mobility WG of the Coimbra Group (CG), participated as a speaker in the sessions:
- “It's a Two-Way Street - Diving into Student-Related Data from the EAIE Barometer": The session saw an interesting reflection with the other speakers, Jody Hoekstra-Selten (European Association for International Education - EAIE) and Simone Lepore (Erasmus Student Network ESN International), on various issues related to student mobility and internationalisation, through the exchange of ideas with students and the presentation of the University of Pavia's perspective.
- “Green Mobility: From Concept to Championing": Discussion on the topic of student mobility and sustainability. Together with Neli Kalinova-Schmieder from ESN International, Thijn van Eldijk from Eurail and Salome Dermati from EUF, Chantal Riccardi presented the ongoing work on sustainable international mobility within the AEM WG.
Marco Oliva - International Mobility unit, as local coordinator of the Erasmus+ KA2 EUniverse project participated as speaker in the sessions:
- “International Exchange: a Human Rights and Value-based approach": Discussion on the main EU and global values in the context of international mobility, addressing the issues of human dignity and human rights as tools to foster intercultural understanding and integration of international students.
- “Empowering student voices: How to listen to students to make welcome weeks more impactful!": The session was an incubator of ideas aimed at exploring innovative ways to improve the welcome of international students. In particular, it reflected on how to actively involve students themselves in the design of activities, promoting spaces of interaction and co-creation where they can feel protagonists of their own integration journey.
A joint session “Erasmus Alumni - Bridging Generations, Celebrating Connections” was also presented by Marco Oliva by Khaled Alorabi and Gianluca Cucurachi from STEP ESN Pavia. The Erasmus Programme has transformed the educational path of millions of students and this session was dedicated to the role of former Erasmus students in enhancing and spreading the principles of the Programme, both in their professional and personal lives. An opportunity to reflect on how the Erasmus experience continues to produce positive effects even years later.
Khaled Alorabi was invited also as student representative for the EC2U alliance as president of STEP ESN Pavia, associate partner of the alliance. In the session “Building bridges: student participation in co-creating European University Alliances”, he was able to report on the feedback of students who are currently going through the project's masters, bringing to light dynamics and critical issues, at times, in order to understand how the first students of this pan-European campus are living their experience, both academically and personally.
