Call for Selection Open Lectures “Introduction to Sustainable Cities and Communities”

The University of Pavia, partner of the EC2U alliance, informs that the call for selection is open for 2 students and 1 university staff member to participate in lectures and seminars "Introduction to Sustainable Cities and Communities", from 26 to 29 October at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi, Romania. 

This is an international opportunity to improve academic writing and research skills, and develop networks with other students, researchers and staff members from other EC2U alliance partner universities. 

During the day of 27 October, the 33rd International Geographical Conference 'Dimitrie Cantemir' will take place, lectures on academic writing will be held, and there will be an opportunity to participate in in-depth conference sessions in which a topic of participants' choice will be explored. Some of the topics from which participants can choose are: (1. Sustainable local development, social innovation and territorial resilience 2. Tourism, Heritage, Biodiversity 3. GIS applied in geography 4. Geomorphology and pedology 5. Climatic risks and Water resources management 6. Productive change and inequalities 7. Regional and environmental geography.)

During the day of October 28, a guided tour will be organized to the Voronet Monastery, part of the UNESCO heritage, in the region of Moldova and Bukovina. (Cost 50€/person which includes travel, lunch, snacks and guided tours). For those who do not wish to participate in the excursion, a guided tour to Iasi will be conducted by the Association Iasi Travel. More details will be given once the selection is complete. 

Finally, during the day of 29 October, you can continue the exploration of the city of Iasi with Prof. Mihai BULAI, during which the focus will be on buildings, iconic sites and urban planning. Participation in this event is optional and not compulsory. 

Who is eligible and when to apply:

The call is open to students enrolled in the Master’s Degree and Doctoral courses of UNIPV. The application must be made by September 14 at 23:59, on this form. 

NOTICE: The deadline to apply has been extended to September 22, 2023.

•    Knowledge of English language minimum B2
•    Motivation to participate

Financial contribution:

The selected students will receive a financial contribution to cover the travel costs of € 400 and € 130 per day for living expenses.
