Al prof. Guido Magenes il “John B. Scalzi Research Award”

(English below) Il 18 ottobre 2024 a Portland, Maine, Stati Uniti, il Prof. Guido Magenes del Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile e Architettura (DICAr) dell’Università di Pavia è stato insignito del “John B. Scalzi Research Award”, premio istituito dalla TMS The Masonry Society, la società scientifica nordamericana per le costruzioni in muratura.

Il “John B. Scalzi Research Award”, istituito nel 1990, viene conferito annualmente a individui che nel corso della loro carriera hanno dato un eccezionale contributo alla ricerca sulle costruzioni in muratura.

Il premio viene assegnato a ricercatori attivi in tutto il mondo, e il Prof. Guido Magenes è il secondo docente di un ateneo italiano a cui sia stato conferito il premio a partire dalla sua istituzione.

Il premio non è solo un successo personale, ma costituisce un riconoscimento del prestigio internazionale raggiunto dal gruppo di studiosi attivo da numerosi anni presso il DICAr e la Fondazione EUCENTRE nella ricerca  sperimentale e teorica sulle strutture in muratura.

On the 18th of October 2024, in Portland, Maine, USA, Prof. Guido Magenes of the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture (DICAr), University of Pavia, has been awarded the 2024 John B. Scalzi Research Award.

The award is presented annually by The Masonry Society, USA, “to honor an individual who has made an outstanding, lifetime contribution to masonry research”.  

Prof. Guido Magenes is the second researcher of an Italian institution to receive the award since its institution.

Such prestigious prize does not represent only a personal success, but stands also as an acknowledgement of the impact and international reputation achieved by the masonry research group active at DICAr and at the EUCENTRE Foundation.
