Due anni da EC2U Ambassador: Alessia e Alberto raccontano la loro esperienza europea senza confini

(English below) Con la chiusura dell’anno accademico 2025/2026 si chiude l’esperienza di Alessia Martinelli e Alberto Spanò, studenti dell’Università di Pavia che per due anni hanno ricoperto il ruolo di Ambassador per l’Alleanza EC2U. Nel corso del doppio mandato, hanno contribuito a promuovere l’alleanza europea tra gli studenti dell’Ateneo e la comunità accademica, partecipando alle iniziative locali e internazionali. La loro esperienza è stata arricchita da eventi e trasferte organizzate in diverse università e città partner, tra cui Poitiers (Francia), Coimbra (Portogallo), Jena (Germania) e Turku (Finlandia). Ogni tappa ha regalato ricordi e amicizie indimenticabili, che porteranno con sé nei rispettivi percorsi professionali e di vita. 

Alberto: «Il fascino della diversità»

«È incredibile pensare come una mail, letta quasi per caso, abbia aperto nella mia vita una finestra che ho sempre desiderato aprire», afferma Alberto. In aprile ha concluso la laurea magistrale in Comunicazione Digitale. 

«Essere un EC2U Ambassador mi ha consentito di scoprire e sviluppare nuovi lati umani e professionali della mia persona. EC2U mi ha arricchito, mi ha permesso di coltivare un maggiore senso civico e consapevolezza democratica, mi ha aiutato a sviluppare nuove abilità di comunicazione multiculturale, migliorare la gestione del tempo e la pianificazione degli eventi. Soprattutto, mi ha fatto conoscere bellissime persone, luoghi e culture. La diversità è ciò che rende l’Europa ed il mondo intero unici e affascinanti: le alleanze danno il privilegio di sperimentarla in prima persona». 

Tra le esperienze più intense, l’Ambassador Week organizzata a Pavia, le trasferte nelle città EC2U e il tempo trascorso con gli amici e compagni di avventura degli atenei partner. «Far parte di un’alleanza è una delle esperienze più belle che si possano collezionare durante il percorso di studi, e la rifarei infinite volte».

Alessia: «Lasciatevi sorprendere»

«Saluto a malincuore il mio ruolo di Ambassador» afferma Alessia, a pochi mesi - e pochi esami - dalla laurea triennale in Comunicazione, Innovazione, Multimedialità (CIM) . «Mai avrei pensato in questi due anni di legarmi così tanto a questa realtà e alle persone che vi vivono. Questa esperienza mi ha permesso di applicare i miei studi in Comunicazione a un progetto europeo stimolante e fare esperienze che mi hanno insegnato ad uscire dalla mia zona di comfort. Ho visitato posti nuovi e conosciuto persone con una cultura e una lingua diverse dalle mie. Ho creato connessioni sparse per tutta l’Europa e penso che questo sia impagabile. Ringrazierò per sempre EC2U per la possibilità che offre agli studenti di aprire i propri orizzonti e vedere sfumature diverse della vita accademica al di fuori della propria università». 

Agli studenti che desiderano fare un’esperienza all’estero, Alessia suggerisce di “non avere paura” e “cogliere le opportunità e lasciarsi sorprendere”. 

Il pensiero va ai successori, che presto saranno selezionati: «Vorrei poter rinnovare questo mandato all’infinito, ma sono certa che altre persone altrettanto talentuose e stimolanti prenderanno il mio posto.  Un enorme grazie ad EC2U e un grosso in bocca al lupo ai futuri EC2U Ambassadors!»

Two Years as EC2U Ambassadors: Alessia and Alberto Share Their Borderless European Experience

With the end of the 2025/2026 academic year, Alessia Martinelli and Alberto Spanò, students at the University of Pavia, conclude their two-year experience as Ambassadors for the EC2U Alliance. Throughout their double mandate, they helped promote the European Alliance among the University community, taking part in both local and international initiatives. Their journey was enriched by events and study visits organised across several EC2U partner universities and cities, including Poitiers (France), Coimbra (Portugal), Jena (Germany) and Turku (Finland). Each stop brought unforgettable memories and lasting friendships that they will carry with them into their future professional and personal lives.

Alberto: “Fascinating Diversity”

“It’s incredible to think that an email, which I happened to read almost by chance, opened a window in my life that I had always wanted to open” says Alberto, who completed his Master's degree in Digital Communication in April.

Being an EC2U Ambassador allowed me to discover and develop new personal and professional qualities. EC2U has enriched me, strengthened my sense of civic responsibility and democratic awareness, and helped me develop new intercultural communication skills while improving my time management and event planning abilities. Above all, it introduced me to wonderful people, places and cultures. Diversity is what makes Europe - and the world - so unique and fascinating, and university alliances give you the privilege of experiencing it first-hand". 

Among the experiences he treasures most are the Ambassador Week hosted in Pavia, the visits to the other EC2U cities, and the time spent with friends and fellow ambassadors from the partner universities. "Being part of a European university alliance is one of the most rewarding experiences a student can have, and I would do it again a thousand times".

Alessia: “Let Yourself Be Surprised”

“It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my role as an EC2U Ambassador” says Alessia, who is just a few months - and a few exams - away from completing her Bachelor's degree in Communication, Innovation and Multimedia (CIM). 

"I never imagined that, over these two years, I would become so deeply connected to this community and to the people who are part of it. This experience allowed me to put my Communication studies into practice within an inspiring European project and gave me opportunities that taught me to step outside my comfort zone. I visited new places and met people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. I built connections across Europe, and I believe that is something truly invaluable. I will always be grateful to EC2U for giving students the opportunity to broaden their horizons and discover new perspectives on academic life beyond their own university". 

To students considering an international experience, Alessia offers a simple piece of advice: "Don't be afraid. Seize every opportunity and let yourself be surprised." 

Her thoughts go to the new ambassadors who will soon take over the role: "I wish I could renew this mandate forever, but I am certain that other talented and inspiring students will carry it forward. A huge thank you to EC2U, and my very best wishes to the future EC2U Ambassadors!"
