L’Università di Pavia a Bruxelles per AEM WG del Coimbra Group e Conferenza ACA
(English below) Chantal Riccardi ha rappresentato l’Università di Pavia a Bruxelles in occasione di due importanti appuntamenti dedicati alle politiche europee per l’istruzione superiore.
Il 28 e 29 gennaio 2026 ha presieduto la riunione dell’Academic Exchange and Mobility Working Group (AEM WG) del Coimbra Group, di cui è coordinatrice. L’incontro ha riunito i referenti delle università membri per un confronto sui principali temi legati alla mobilità accademica e alla cooperazione internazionale.
Tra i punti affrontati:
- il futuro Programma Erasmus+ 2028-2034;
- la collaborazione con l’Erasmus Student Network (ESN) per migliorare l’esperienza degli studenti prima, durante e dopo la mobilità;
- il lavoro congiunto con altri Working Groups del Coimbra Group su mobilità, occupabilità e civic engagement;
- il contributo dell’AEM WG alle iniziative del network in ambito di sostenibilità, anche nel quadro della Durham Declaration;
- il rientro di Svizzera e Regno Unito nel programma Erasmus+.
L’incontro ha confermato il valore del dialogo strutturato tra istituzioni e il ruolo strategico della cooperazione all’interno del network. La condivisione di buone pratiche sui temi di comune interesse ha rappresentato un ulteriore valore aggiunto, favorendo un approccio coordinato e orientato al miglioramento continuo delle attività.
Nel pomeriggio del 29 gennaio e il 30 gennaio ha partecipato alla Conferenza annuale dell’Academic Cooperation Association (ACA), dal titolo “What’s New in Brussels? Recent Developments in European Policies and Programmes” (edizione 2026).
La conferenza ha rappresentato un’importante occasione di aggiornamento e confronto con rappresentanti di università, agenzie nazionali, Commissione europea e associazioni accademiche europee sulle priorità in evoluzione delle politiche UE per l’istruzione superiore e la cooperazione internazionale.
Particolare interesse hanno suscitato le sessioni dedicate a:
- i progressi verso un possibile titolo di studio europeo (European degree) e i relativi strumenti di finanziamento;
- la cooperazione con i Paesi extra EU;
- le misure di supporto per studenti in entrata e in uscita;
- la sostenibilità a lungo termine delle alleanze “European Universities”.
La partecipazione a tali iniziative conferma il ruolo attivo dell’Università di Pavia nei principali network accademici europei e il suo impegno costante nel contribuire al dibattito e allo sviluppo delle politiche dell’istruzione superiore a livello internazionale.

UniPv in Brussels for Coimbra Group AEM WG and ACA Conference 2026
Chantal Riccardi represented the University of Pavia in Brussels at two key events focused on European higher education cooperation and policy developments.
On 28–29 January, she chaired the meeting of the Academic Exchange and Mobility Working Group (AEM WG) of the Coimbra Group. The meeting brought together representatives from member universities to discuss strategic priorities in academic mobility and international cooperation.
Key topics included:
- the future Programme Erasmus+ 2028 – 2034
- the ongoing collaboration with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) to enhance the student experience before, during and after mobility;
- joint work with other Coimbra Group Working Groups on mobility, employability and civic engagement;
- the AEM WG’s contribution to the Coimbra Group’s sustainability agenda, including the framework of the Durham Declaration;
- the return of Switzerland and the UK to Erasmus+.
The meeting confirmed the value of structured dialogue among institutions and the strategic role of cooperation within the network. The sharing of good practices on topics of common interest provided further added value, fostering a coordinated approach focused on the continuous improvement of activities.
On 29 January (afternoon) and 30 January, she also attended the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) Conference “What’s New in Brussels? Recent Developments in European Policies and Programmes” (2026 edition).
The conference provided an important opportunity to engage with colleagues from universities, national agencies, the European Commission and academic associations across Europe, reflecting on both ongoing and emerging priorities in European higher education policy and cooperation.
Particularly relevant were the sessions on:
- progress towards a European degree and related funding instruments;
- cooperation with extra EU countries
- support measures for incoming and outgoing students;
- the long-term sustainability of European Universities alliances.
Participation in these events highlights the Università degli Studi di Pavia’s active engagement in European academic networks and its continued contribution to shaping higher education policy at international level.
