Lifelong Learning: l’Università di Pavia e l’Alleanza EC2U protagoniste all'"EUCEN National Network Meeting"

The University of Pavia and EC2U Alliance Showcase Best Practices
in Lifelong Learning at "EUCEN National Network Meeting"
The University of Pavia and the EC2U European Alliance took center stage at the EUCEN National Network Meeting 2026, the largest multidisciplinary European association for university lifelong learning. Hosted on January 21 by the University of Education Weingarten (Germany), the event provided a platform for European alliances to share concrete experiences on developing flexible and transnational learning pathways, promoting a common European approach to lifelong learning.
As a representative of the EC2U Alliance in the ALLIES Topical Group (Alliances for Lifelong Learning, Improvement, Empowerment and Skills) of ForEU4All, Dr. Stefania Mellera (COR – UniPv) participated as a speaker, sharing the session “Micro-credentials in European Higher Education Alliances (with a focus on Continuing Education)” alongside Prof. Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl, Director of Micro-Credential Strategy & Innovation at Dublin City University and representative of the ECIU Alliance in the ALLIES Topical Group.
During the meeting, Dr. Mellera presented the experience of the EC2U WP8 – Subgroup Lifelong Courses (LLC) on Lifelong Learning and micro-credentials. In particular, she highlighted the practical work carried out by the Alliance partners to map existing Lifelong Learning initiatives across their different university educational offers. The goal is to define a shared framework to facilitate the development of a common Lifelong Learning approach within the Alliance and at European level, while fostering more flexible teaching formats based on the implementation of micro-credentials across partner universities.
«The EC2U Alliance - Stefania Mellera explains - actively promotes the use of micro-credentials as key instruments to support Lifelong Learning, as they allow teaching to be structured in a modular and flexible way, making university learning pathways more adaptable and easily integrable also in transnational educational contexts, such as Joint Master Programmes. Moreover, thanks to the involvement of municipalities and associated partners, EC2U encourages the dissemination and uptake of micro-credentials among territorial stakeholders, supporting access to training tools for upskilling and reskilling».
