L'esperienza degli studenti UniPv alla European Student Assembly 2024 al Parlamento Europeo
(English below) Dal 10 al 12 aprile 2024, otto studenti dell’Università di Pavia hanno partecipato alla terza edizione della European Student Assembly (ESA) presso la sede del Parlamento Europeo a Strasburgo, in rappresentanza dell’Università di Pavia e dell’Alleanza Universitaria Europea EC2U.
La European Student Assembly è un progetto finanziato dalla Commissione Europea che dà agli studenti dell’UE l'opportunità di far sentire le proprie voci presso le istituzioni europee e di aumentare il proprio coinvolgimento nei processi decisionali dell’Unione.
Questa edizione ha riunito più di 250 studenti provenienti da 170 differenti Università e 41 Alleanze Europee, suddivisi in 11 gruppi di lavoro che hanno discusso argomenti che spaziano, solo per citarne alcuni, dall’intelligenza artificiale, all’euroscetticismo, al bilancio dell’UE, al cambiamento climatico e alle elezioni europee.
Dopo vari mesi di lavoro e incontri online, gli 11 gruppi hanno avuto la possibilità di incontrarsi e dibattere di persona su tali argomenti, portando così alla stesura di 79 raccomandazioni politiche che saranno portate all’attenzione dei rappresentanti della Commissione e del Parlamento Europeo.
«ESA 2024 è stato un grande evento. Ho lavorato al Panel 5 che si concentrava su "L'UE nel mondo" ed è stata una grande opportunità per rivedere le politiche dell'Unione Europea con i paesi non UE, individuare le lacune e raccomandare politiche che avrebbero colmato il divario. Oltre a lavorare sulle raccomandazioni politiche, è stata una grande opportunità per fare rete con altri studenti provenienti da diverse università in tutta Europa.» Veronic Njie, studentessa di World Politics and International Relations.
«Dopo tutte le sessioni online, abbiamo incontrato i membri dei nostri panel presso il Parlamento Europeo a Strasburgo e abbiamo perfezionato le policy recommendation per l'ultima volta con il feedback dei dibattiti inter-panel. Alcune delle nostre raccomandazioni sono state accolte con successo attraverso il voto di tutti i partecipanti e dei coordinatori.
Oltre a lavorare sulle raccomandazioni politiche, è stata una grande opportunità per fare rete con altri studenti provenienti da diverse università di tutta Europa. In conclusione, l'ESA dà voce all'opinione degli studenti dell'Alleanza Europea provenienti da diversi paesi, background, campi e livelli di studio e incoraggia gli studenti a partecipare ai processi democratici europei.» Ismit Ara Jiniya, studentessa di World Politics and International Relations.
«Esa24 è stata una grandissima opportunità sia dal punto di vista personale che di quello accademico. Mi ha dato la possibilità di entrare in contatto con quelle che sono le vere operazioni che hanno luogo nel Parlamento Europeo e di far sentire la mia voce in maniera concreta. Mi ha anche dato l’opportunità di conoscere tante persone che provengono da diverse realtà, sia europee che extraeuropee. Mi ha spinto oltre i miei limiti e mi ha dato un grandissimo bagaglio di ricordi ed esperienze.» Giulia D’Alessandro, studentessa di Fisica.

The experience of UniPv students during the European Student Assembly 2024 at the European Parliament
From 10 to 12 April, eight students from the University of Pavia participated in the third edition of the European Student Assembly (ESA) at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, representing the University of Pavia and the European University Alliance EC2U.
The European Student Assembly is a project funded by the European Commission that gives EU students the opportunity to make their voices heard in the European institutions and to increase their involvement in the Union's decision-making processes.
This edition brought together more than 250 students from 170 different universities and 41 European Alliances, divided into 11 working groups that discussed topics ranging from, to name a few, artificial intelligence, euroscepticism, the EU budget, climate change and the European elections.
After several months of work and online meetings, the 11 groups had the opportunity to meet and debate these topics in person, thus leading to the drafting of 79 policy recommendations that will be brought to the attention of representatives of the Commission and the European Parliament.

I worked on Panel 5 which focused on "The EU in the World" and it was a great opportunity to review EU policies with non-EU countries, identify gaps and recommend policies that would bridge the gap. «After all the online sessions, we met with our panel members at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and refined the policy recommendations for the last time with feedback from the inter-panel debates. Some of our recommendations were successfully accepted through the vote of all participants and coordinators. In addition to working on policy recommendations, it was a great opportunity to network with other students from different universities across Europe. In conclusion, ESA gives voice to the opinion of European Alliance students from different countries, backgrounds, fields and levels of study and encourages students to participate in European democratic processes.» Ismit Ara Jiniya, student of World Politics and International Relations.
«Esa24 was a great opportunity both from a personal and academic point of view. It has given me the opportunity to get in touch with the real operations that take place in the European Parliament and to make my voice heard in a concrete way. It also gave me the opportunity to meet many people who come from different backgrounds, both European and non-European.
