La nuova fase dell’Alleanza europea "EC2U": i risultati raggiunti e i nuovi obiettivi dell'Università di Pavia e dei suoi sei atenei partner
(English below) Il 1° novembre è ufficialmente iniziata la fase consolidata dell’Alleanza EC2U, che porterà l’Alleanza a un nuovo livello di espansione e sviluppo. Ad oggi l’Alleanza Europea coinvolge già oltre 200.000 studenti e più di 25.000 membri del personale universitario, raggiungendo un totale di più di 2.000.000 di cittadini; l’obiettivo della nuova fase è di espandere ulteriormente la comunità EC2U verso un unico campus paneuropeo.
La fase pilota si è conclusa nel mese di ottobre con il settimo EC2U Forum, organizzato e ospitato dall’Università di Poitiers, coordinatore dell’Alleanza, e al quale l'Università di Pavia ha partecipato con un’importante delegazione di quasi 50 persone guidata dal Rettore Francesco Svelto.
L’evento è stato anche l’occasione per celebrare i notevoli risultati raggiunti dall’Alleanza nei suoi primi tre anni di vita.
Ecco alcuni dei dati più interessanti:
- 5.200+ Utenti singoli della EC2U MyMobile Tutor App.
- 3.600+ Partecipanti (in presenza e online) ai 7 forum dell’Alleanza.
- 2.250+ Partecipanti (online e in presenza) ai tre round dell’evento Science Battle.
- 1.000+ Mobilità sostenute dell’Alleanza, di cui più di 650 realizzate all’interno dei tre Virtual Institutes (summer/winter schools, Phd workshop, programmi di mobilità per ricerca, etc).
- 750+ Candidature ai programmi di master congiunti lanciati dall’Alleanza.
- 75 Studenti coinvolti nel programma Career Plan Certificate.
- 70 Studenti partecipanti alle Entrepreneurial week.
La nuova fase dell’Alleanza EC2U, che durerà fino al 2027 con possibilità di estensione fino al 2029, è stata finanziata dalla Commissione Europea a luglio di quest’anno e punta ad estendere l’Alleanza e i suoi obiettivi.
Oltre alle 7 università partner già presenti – Università di Coimbra (Portogallo), Università di Iași (Romania), Università di Jena (Germania), Università di Pavia (Italia), Università di Poitiers (Francia), Università di Salamanca (Spagna) e Università di Turku (Finlandia) – si uniranno l’Università Johannes Kepler di Linz (Austria) e una nona Università che verrà inclusa entro i primi due anni di progetto. Inoltre, l’Alleanza si aprirà a nuovi partner associati (ad oggi già più di 60), tra i quali il Policlinico San Matteo e Assolombarda.
Le attività si focalizzeranno sugli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile delle Nazioni Unite (UN SDGs), in particolare: salute e benessere (SDG n. 3), istruzione di qualità (SDG n. 4) e città e comunità sostenibili (SDG n. 11). Si aggiunge anche un nuovo obiettivo: pace, giustizia e istituzioni forti (SDG n. 16), che porterà alla creazione di un nuovo Joint Master ed un nuovo Virtual Institute.
L’Università di Pavia sarà coinvolta nello sviluppo e gestione dei Joint Master Degree e dei Virtual Institutes, focalizzati sugli obiettivi di cui sopra, dove diversi professori sono già attivamente coinvolti nelle relative attività.
Inoltre, in continuità con la fase pilota dell’Alleanza, Pavia sarà il coordinatore del work package 3 “Digital EC2U Alliance”, la struttura digitale che fa capo allo sviluppo dell’EC2U Connect Center e alle attività di pedagogia innovativa digitale.
Il giorno 20 dicembre si svolgerà il kickoff meeting interno di UniPv, al quale parteciperanno i docenti e lo staff coinvolti nei gruppi di lavoro dell’Alleanza, insieme ai partner associati locali. Il kickoff sarà un momento inaugurale di presentazione delle nuove attività e di benvenuto per i nuovi arrivati in EC2U.
Il Rettore Francesco Svelto, in relazione al rifinanziamento e avvio della fase consolidata dell’Alleanza ha dichiarato: “L’Alleanza EC2U rappresenta un importante volano internazionale per il nostro Ateneo e il suo rifinanziamento da parte della Comunità Europea conferma i risultati eccellenti raggiunti nei primi tre anni di attività e la bontà del progetto di consolidamento previsto nei prossimi anni attraverso una sempre più stretta interconnessione tra gli Atenei europei che compongono l’Alleanza. EC2U ha dimostrato e sempre più lo farà in futuro di avere un impatto trasversale non solo su tutte le componenti della nostra comunità accademica ma anche sul territorio pavese, grazie al coinvolgimento di nuovi stakeholder quali il Policlinico San Matteo, Assolombarda, il CUS e AISEC che si aggiungono ad altri partner già consolidati, quali il Comune di Pavia, il Polo Tecnologico, ESN e CIMEA”.

The new phase of the EC2U Alliance begins: important results achieved and new great objectives!
The consolidated phase of the EC2U Alliance officially began on November 1st, which will bring the Alliance to a new level of expansion and development. To date, the European Alliance already involves over 200,000 students and more than 25,000 university staff members, reaching a total of more than 2,000,000 citizens; the goal of the new phase is to further expand the EC2U community towards a single pan-European campus.
The pilot phase ended in October with the seventh EC2U Forum, organized and hosted by the University of Poitiers, coordinator of the Alliance, and in which Unipv participated with an important delegation of almost 50 people, led by the Rector Francesco Svelto.
The event was also an opportunity to celebrate the notable results achieved by the Alliance in its first three years of life.

The new phase of the EC2U Alliance, which will last until 2027 with the possibility of extension until 2029, was funded by the European Commission in July this year and aims to extend the Alliance and its objectives.
In addition to the 7 partner universities already present - University of Coimbra (Portugal), University of Iași (Romania), University of Jena (Germany), University of Pavia (Italy), University of Poitiers (France), University of Salamanca (Spain) and University of Turku (Finland) – the Johannes Kepler University of Linz (Austria) will join and a ninth University will be included within the first two years of the project. Furthermore, the Alliance will open up to new associated partners (to date already more than 60), including the Policlinico San Matteo and Assolombarda.
Activities will focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), in particular: health and well-being (SDG No. 3), quality education (SDG No. 4) and sustainable cities and communities (SDG No. 11). A new objective is also added: peace, justice and strong institutions (SDG n. 16), which will lead to the creation of a new Joint Master and a new Virtual Institute.
The University of Pavia will be involved in the development and management of Joint Master Degrees and Virtual Institutes, focused on the above objectives, where several professors are already actively involved in the related activities.
Furthermore, in continuity with the pilot phase of the Alliance, Pavia will be the coordinator of work package 3 "Digital EC2U Alliance", the digital structure that leads to the development of the EC2U Connect Center and innovative digital pedagogy activities.
The internal UniPv kickoff meeting will take place on 20 December, in which the teachers and staff involved in the Alliance working groups will participate, together with the local associated partners. The kickoff will be an inaugural moment of presentation of the new activities and welcome for newcomers to EC2U.
The Rector Francesco Svelto, in relation to the refinancing and start of the consolidated phase of the Alliance, declared: "The EC2U Alliance represents an important international driving force for our University and its refinancing by the European Community confirms the excellent results achieved in the first three years of activity and the quality of the consolidation project envisaged in the coming years through an increasingly close interconnection between the European universities that make up the Alliance. EC2U has demonstrated and will increasingly do so in the future to have a transversal impact not only on all the components of our academic community but also on the Pavia area, thanks to the involvement of new stakeholders such as the Policlinico San Matteo, Assolombarda, the CUS and AISEC which they join other already consolidated partners, such as the Municipality of Pavia, the Technological Polo, ESN and CIMEA".
