Geographies of Peace: Improvisational Theatre Across Borders and Cultures

What happens when theatre becomes a space where people, stories and cultures meet?

This is the question at the heart of “Geographies of Peace”, an evening of improvisational theatre taking place on Saturday, 10 October at 9:00 PM in the Aula del ’400 at the University of Pavia, presented by Improvvisamente APS as part of the Pavia and Province stage of IT.A.CÀ – Festival of Responsible Tourism 2026.

The 18th edition of IT.A.CÀ focuses this year on the theme “Geographies of Peace – moving/re-crossing borders and cultures”: an invitation to rethink travel and mobility as opportunities for encounter and connection, and to see borders not simply as lines of separation, but as spaces where dialogue, understanding and exchange can emerge.

The evening explores this theme through the language of improvisation: words, emotions, suggestions and ideas from the audience become the starting point for stories created live on stage, making each performance a unique and unrepeatable experience.

The stage becomes a territory to explore together, where there is no pre-written story and listening to others is the starting point for creating something new. The theatrical journey becomes an encounter between places, people and different perspectives, reflecting IT.A.CÀ 2026’s invitation to cross borders and cultures through more conscious and responsible forms of mobility.

The event also brings the international and intercultural dimension of the Festival into the University of Pavia, thanks to the collaboration between OSA – Office for Sustainable Actions and the International Relations Area of the University of Pavia.

The performance is part of the programme of the Pavia and Province stage of IT.A.CÀ, taking place from 8 to 11 October, with a wide range of events, walks, performances, exhibitions and experiences exploring the local area and different ways of travelling, crossing boundaries and encountering others.

Admission is free, subject to availability.
