Conseguenze a lungo termine degli incidenti stradali: all’Università di Pavia la General Assembly del progetto europeo "ProtAct-Us"
(English below) Il 9 e il 10 giugno 2026 l’Università di Pavia ospiterà, nelle aule di Palazzo San Tommaso, la General Assembly del progetto europeo “ProtAct-Us from long-term consequences of road crashes”, vincitore del finanziamento HORIZON-CL5-2023-D6-01-12: New ways of reducing serious injuries and the long-term consequences of road crashes.
Il progetto ProtAct-Us ha preso avvio il 1° giugno 2024 con l'obiettivo di indagare le conseguenze a lungo termine sulla salute fisica e mentale degli utenti della strada coinvolti in incidenti, combinando ricerche in ambito epidemiologico, clinico, psicologico e ingegneristico.
ProtAct-Us, sostenuto dall’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità, coinvolge università ed enti di Paesi europei quali Austria, Germania, Francia, Belgio, Grecia, Spagna e partner associati di Paesi Bassi e Australia. Unico centro italiano, l’Università di Pavia è rappresentata dal gruppo di ricerca dell’Unità di Biostatistica del Dipartimento di Sanità Pubblica, Medicina Sperimentale e Forense, coordinato dalla professoressa Cristina Montomoli. Compito del team pavese è approfondire la comprensione dei processi di recupero successivi al trauma stradale e promuovere strategie preventive fondate su robuste evidenze scientifiche.
La General Assembly di ProtAct-Us, che si aprirà con i saluti del nostro Rettore, rappresenterà un momento di riunione e di confronto tra i centri partecipanti per fare il punto sull’avanzamento del progetto, sui risultati finora ottenuti e sulle ricerche future, mirate a sviluppare strategie di prevenzione delle conseguenze a lungo termine sulla salute che siano efficienti, resilienti e inclusive, affiancate da interventi post-incidente applicabili a tutti i tipi di veicoli.

Long-term consequences of road crashes: The University of Pavia will host the General Assembly of the European project ProtAct-Us
On 9 and 10 June, the University of Pavia will host the General Assembly of the European project “ProtAct-Us from long-term consequences of road crashes” in the rooms of Palazzo San Tommaso. The project was awarded funding under the HORIZON-CL5-2023-D6-01-12 call: New ways of reducing serious injuries and the long-term consequences of road crashes.
Launched on 1 June 2024, the ProtAct-Us project aims to investigate the long-term physical and mental health consequences experienced by road users involved in crashes, combining epidemiological, clinical, psychological, and engineering research approaches.
Supported by the World Health Organization, ProtAct-Us involves universities and institutions from several European countries, including Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, Greece, and Spain, as well as associated partners from the Netherlands and Australia. As the only Italian institution involved in the project, the University of Pavia is represented by the research group of the Biostatistics Unit within the Department of Public Health, Experimental and Forensic Medicine, coordinated by Professor Cristina Montomoli. The task of the Pavia team is to deepen the understanding of post-traumatic recovery processes following road crashes and to promote preventive strategies grounded in robust scientific evidence.
The ProtAct-Us General Assembly, which will open with welcoming remarks from the Rector of the University of Pavia, will provide an important opportunity for discussion and collaboration among the participating centres. The meeting will focus on the progress of the project, the results achieved so far, and future research activities aimed at developing efficient, resilient, and inclusive strategies to prevent long-term health consequences, alongside post-crash interventions applicable to all types of vehicles.
