When Strong Emotions Take Over
(English below) Imparare a convivere con le emozioni forti, a viverle senza ignorarle né subirle. Questa la premessa del workshop "When Strong Emotions Take Over: Empirical Ways to Practice Emotional Regulation in Everyday Life". Organizzato dall'Università di Salamanca nell'ambito dell'Alleanza EC2U - di cui anche UNIPV è partner - l’iniziativa si terrà mercoledì 21 ottobre dalle 11.30 alle 13.30 CET, in presenza e online, e sarà aperta all’intera comunità accademica EC2U.
L’evento affronterà le cause dell'ansia legata al rendimento accademico, agli elevati standard e all'autocritica, fornendo indicazioni pratiche per alleviare lo stress e riscoprire spazi per la creatività e la curiosità. Attraverso contributi che spaziano dalla Terapia Dialettico Comportamentale (DBT) alla psicologia del lavoro e organizzativa, i partecipanti acquisiranno strategie di regolazione emotiva e pratiche di autocompassione per gestire lo stress in modo più sostenibile.
I relatori sono tre esperti provenienti da altrettante università dell'Alleanza: Malin Jonsson, psicologa del servizio di salute studentesca dell'Università di Umeå, il Dr. Michael Barth della Johannes Kepler University Linz, specialista in psichiatria e medicina psicoterapeutica, e Lena Schmitz, dottoranda in Psicologia del Lavoro, Industriale e Organizzativa all'Università di Jena.

"When Strong Emotions Take Over": join the EC2U workshop on emotional regulation on 21 October, in person and online.
Learning to live with intense emotions, to experience them without ignoring or being overwhelmed by them. This is the premise of the workshop "When Strong Emotions Take Over: Empirical Ways to Practice Emotional Regulation in Everyday Life". Organised by the University of Salamanca within the EC2U Alliance - of which UNIPV is also a partner - the event will take place on Wednesday 21 October from 11:30 to 13:30 CET (in person and online) and will be open to the entire EC2U academic community.
The event will explore the causes of anxiety linked to academic performance, high standards and self-criticism, offering practical guidance on how to alleviate stress and rediscover space for creativity and curiosity. Through contributions ranging from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to work and organisational psychology, participants will gain emotional regulation strategies and self-compassion practices to manage stress in a more sustainable way.
The speakers are three experts from as many universities within the Alliance: Malin Jonsson, psychologist at the student health service of Umeå University; Dr Michael Barth from Johannes Kepler University Linz, specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine; and Lena Schmitz, doctoral researcher in Work, Industrial and Organisational Psychology at the University of Jena.
