Materials & Methods for a Sustainable Future

(English below) Una nuova serie di webinar firmata EC2U prenderà il via questo ottobre, connettendo la comunità scientifica dell'Alleanza attorno a un ambito di ricerca condiviso: Materials & Methods for a Sustainable Future. L’iniziativa è organizzata nell'ambito degli EC2U Virtual Institutes, dedicati a promuovere la collaborazione scientifica tra le sue università partner. L'obiettivo è connettere ricercatori e ricercatrici attorno a temi scientifici comuni, condividere le ricerche in corso ed esplorare nuove opportunità di collaborazione all'interno dell'Alleanza EC2U.

Il primo webinar si terrà il 7 ottobre 2026, dalle 13:00 alle 14:00 CET, e sarà incentrato sulla produzione additiva (Additive Manufacturing). Due relatori provenienti dalle università della rete EC2U presenteranno le loro attività di ricerca:

• Prof. Assistant Julio Diarte Almada (Scuola di Architettura dell'Università di Umeå): "Material Matters: Lessons from 3D Printing Cementitious and Bio-Based Composites"
• Prof.ssa Assistant Franca Scocozza (Università di Pavia): "Living Materials in 3D: Current Capabilities and Open Challenges"

L'incontro offrirà ai membri della comunità di ricerca EC2U che operano in questo settore l'opportunità di scoprire interessi e attività affini, confrontarsi con colleghi dell'Alleanza e individuare possibili percorsi di collaborazione.

A new EC2U webinar series is coming your way this October, connecting the EC2U research community around a shared scientific field: Materials & Methods for a Sustainable Future. 

The series is organised within the framework of the EC2U Virtual Institute for Materials & Methods for a Sustainable Future (VI MMSF), one of EC2U’s Virtual Institutes dedicated to fostering research collaboration across its Partner Universities. The aim is simple: to connect researchers around joint scientific topics, share ongoing research, and explore new opportunities for collaboration across the EC2U Alliance.

The first webinar will take place on 7 October 2026, from 13:00 to 14 CET, and will focus on Additive Manufacturing. Two speakers from EC2U Universities will present their research activities: 

• Asst. Prof. Julio Diarte Almada, Umeå School of Architecture, on "Material Matters: Lessons from 3D Printing Cementitious and Bio-Based Composites"
• Asst. Prof. Franca Scocozza, University of Pavia, on "Living Materials in 3D: Current Capabilities and Open Challenges"

It will offer an opportunity for members of the EC2U research community working in this field to learn about similar research interests and activities, exchange with peers from across the Alliance, and identify potential avenues for collaboration.
