Aggiornamenti in Alzheimer e malattie degenerative: cosa c'è di nuovo?
La demenza colpisce circa 46 milioni di persone in tutto il mondo, una cifra che, secondo il “Rapporto Mondiale Alzheimer 2015”, dovrebbe raggiungere 131,5 milioni entro il 2050. L’11 dicembre 2013 i leader mondiali del G8 si sono riuniti a Londra in uno storico vertice per decidere come combattere la demenza, con l’ambizione di identificare entro il 2025 una cura o una terapia che modifichi sostanzialmente il decorso della malattia.
Docenti e ricercatori in una pluralità di ambiti, operanti negli Atenei e negli IRCCS di Pavia e nel mondo presenteranno i risultati più recenti della ricerca sul morbo di Alzheimer, una malattia neurodegenerativa che provoca un declino della memoria e di altre importanti funzioni mentali.
È necessario uno sforzo enorme, sia per identificare i meccanismi patogenetici alla base del morbo sia per valutare nuovi approcci terapeutici ancora oggi allo studio. I docenti di questo corso, molto noti nel mondo scientifico, clinico e accademico, hanno tutte le caratteristiche ed expertise per aiutare sia gli esperti sia chi si approccia per la prima volta al mondo delle demenze a comprendere i nuovi progressi nella conoscenza della malattia che essi hanno prodotto nel corso degli ultimi anni di ricerca e i nuovi approcci che dalle loro ricerche derivano. Le loro relazioni saranno molto utili agli studenti, ai professionisti e ai familiari di pazienti affetti da Alzheimer a vedere con nuovi occhi questa malattia che non colpisce mai solo un paziente ma distrugge nel vero senso della parola tutta una famiglia.
In tutto il mondo in settembre si celebra la Giornata Mondiale dell’Alzheimer per attirare l’attenzione di tutti su questa malattia che è ben più diffusa dei tumori e delle cardiopatie e dalla quale per ora non si guarisce. Con questo corso si vuole portare un contributo di conoscenza e di supporto a “chi non ha più niente” e ai loro familiari e dare un riconoscimento ai ricercatori che dedicano la loro vita a studiare la malattia per cercare una possibile cura. Il corso diventa importante per tutti gli studenti di ambito sanitario e per quelli che opereranno in futuro sul territorio, in ospedali e in centri di ricerca o nelle industrie farmaceutiche.

Per la partecipazione gli studenti devono pre-registrarsi tramite il link di iscrizione entro il 29 ottobre 2024. Si ricorda che l'accesso in sala è limitato a 198 posti. Il corso è erogato al VI anno. L’accreditamento verrà effettuato in osservanza alle norme della Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia cui si rimanda e se sarà riscontrabile la partecipazione almeno tre incontri su quattro. Le lezioni si tengono solo in presenza.

Updates on alzheimer’s disease and degenerative diseases: what’s new?
Dementia affects approximately 46 million people worldwide, a figure that the "World Alzheimer’s Report 2015" estimates will reach 131.5 million by 2050. On 11 December 2013, the G8 leaders met in London at a historic summit to decide how to combat dementia, with the ambition of identifying by 2025 a cure or therapy that would substantially change the course of the disease.
With the contribution of lecturers and researchers in a plurality of fields, operating in the Universities and IRCCS of Pavia and the world will present the latest results of research on Alzheimer’s disease, a neurodegenerative disease that causes a decline in memory and other important mental functions.
An enormous effort is needed to identify the pathogenic mechanisms behind the disease and to evaluate new therapeutic approaches still under study. The lecturers of this course, well known in the scientific, clinical and academic world, have all the features and expertise to help both experts and first-time-seekers in the world of dementia understand the new advances in knowledge of the disease that they have produced over the last few years of research and the new approaches that They derive their research. Their reports will be very useful to students, professionals and family members of patients suffering from Alzheimer’s to see with new eyes this disease that never affects only one patient but destroys in the true sense of the word an entire family.
Worldwide, in September, the World Alzheimer’s Day is celebrated to draw everyone’s attention to this disease which is much more widespread than cancers and heart diseases and from which no cure has yet been found.
This course aims to provide knowledge and support for "those who have nothing" and their families, and to recognize researchers who dedicate their lives to studying the disease in order to find a possible cure. The course becomes important for all students in the health field and for those who will work in the future on the territory, in hospitals and research centers or in pharmaceutical industries.
To participate, students must pre-register by 29th October 2024 on the Collegio Nuovo website and put the course in their study plan.
The course is accredited for students enrolled in the sixth year. The accreditation will be carried out in compliance with the rules of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery to which reference is made and if participation can be found at least three out of four meetings. Meetings are held only on site.
